I need help on this too. you want to see if there is a proportional relationship between your age and your dogs age you make a graph by plotting the pairs of values, using the x-axis for your dogs age is there a proportional relationship? would this result be different if you used the x-axis for your age

             your dogs age 5  8   9  10

             your age          8 11 12 13

(x)5/8(y)=(x)8/11(y)=9/12=10/13   the numerical value will not change but only the definition. If dog age is x axis and your age is y, that simpll means your age is dependant on the value of your dog's age. If you switch it, your dog's age will depend on the value of your age. the age proportion doesnt change hence:  5/8=8/11 =  8/5=11/8
