Polynomial is an expression consisting of variables (or indeterminates) and coefficients, that involves only the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and non-negative integer exponents.

Eg: ax^3 +bx^2 + Cx + d is an example of a polynomial

a, b, c,  are called coefficients of the polynomial.

d is a constant term which is any real number.

The variable used here is x.

The highest power of the variable is called the degree of the polynomial.

Here in this example, its 3.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and best me if you are satisfactory.

This is really hard. So like is it a variable or a constant?

Apr 20th, 2015

It consists of both variables and constants.

3x^2 - 2x -4

Coefficient of x^2 =3

Coefficient of x = -2

Constant term = -4

Degree is 2 since the highest power of x is 2.
