Illegal Immigrants and Their Main Criminal Activities
Introduction
Illegal immigration refers to the unauthorized entry of a person or groups into a foreign
nation with the intention of remaining in that state for the rest of their lives. Immigration has
increased over the past few years where the people from developing countries move to richer
nations where they want to look for better lives. However, illegal immigrants only have one
focus which is to improve their living standards by exploiting opportunities which earn them
income. The illegal immigrants also hope that eventually, they will have the right to become
citizens of the foreign country where they start living (Immigration, crime and justice. 2009).
Most of the nations have strict regulations against illegal immigrants, and in most cases, they get
deported or detained for their criminal activities. Illegal immigration is by itself a crime, and the
immigrants have to face the justice system of the foreign nation. Illegal immigrants do not have
the rights that other citizens have and live under restrictions that make their lives harder. In most
countries, illegal immigrants have become troublesome through their high rate of getting
involved in criminal activities. The paper addresses the issue of illegal immigrants and their
involvement in criminal activities in America.
Illegal immigration in America
America has presented the largest number of illegal immigrants in the last ten years.
These people mostly come from developing nations and would want to have better lives in
America. America has a high performing economy and people from developing countries feel
that many opportunities are available in this economy. As a result, they end up moving to the
nation and have hope of improving their living standards as well as the living standards of their

families. In America, illegal immigrants form 11.3 million of the total population. Statistics also
show that illegal immigrants from 3.4% of the entire population in America (Pinder, 2013). As a
result, it is clear that America has a large number of people living within its jurisdiction illegally.
Dealing with the problem has become a problem despite the government's strict regulations
against the illegal immigrants. However, illegal immigration has remained a constant figure since
2009 after the government imposed laws that affected the immigrants. The illegal immigrants
have affected the economy of the US, and they occupy most of the positions which the citizens
could hold. As a result, they have remained a threat to the state's economy.
Factors which make illegal immigrants get involved in crimes
Most of the American citizens have found it hard to embrace the illegal immigrants since
they feel that they threaten their lives. Some industries will discriminate against them and deny
them job opportunities. The frustrations that the immigrants face lead to their engagement in
criminal activities where they try to make their lives better through illegal activities. The
immigrants live in distinguished locations and have their families with them, and the population
has continued growing due to the expansion of their families (O'Leary, 2014). As a result, the
illegal immigrants feel discriminated so that they do anything to survive and cause harm to the
American citizens. Well, some industries do not mind employing the immigrants since they
charge low wages and provide labor as expected. Therefore, some illegal immigrants end up
succeeding in life while in the American state. However, the unemployed illegal immigrant's
population remains a threat to the American economy and safety due to increased rates of crimes.
Lack of employment also contributes to an increase in criminal activities since people have to
put food on the table for their families.

On the other hand, illegal immigrants face discrimination and do not have access to some
of the facilities available for the American citizens. There is the mentality that the immigrants
will become involved with crime at one point in their lives. The illegal immigrants have also
embraced the fact that they could become rich through criminal activities and have better
experiences in the ...
