Use the substitution method to find all solutions of the system of equations.

4x + y = 6
5x + 2y = 6
(xy) =

1st equation: y = 6- 4x

We put y in the second equation:

5x + 2(6-4x) = 6

5x +12 -8x = 6

-3x = -6

x = 2

We put the value of x back into 1st equation:

y = 6 -4*2 = -2

Solutions: x = 2

               y = -2
