Questions
1. Instead of looking at a data table, how can a graph or chart of data help you interpret data?
Graphs and charts are great tools for data interpretation because; looking at them, one can
easily get a visual interpretation of the data, and see how the various data relate. This is unlike
the use of tables, where one needs to be careful in looking at the rows and columns, and try to
relate the various numbers represented to interpret the data.
Graphs assist the audience in trend identification of the data, as well as in making a
comparison of the data. The graphs also allow the audience to concentrate on understanding the
relevance of the data, as they do not have to do calculations aimed at finding various
relationships, as well as trends in the data.
Additionally, presenting the data in graphs and charts helps the audience to retain the
information more, since they create a more vivid image of the data in the audience’s minds,
making the data more memorable.
