I measure the use of nuts, trees and nesting
materials by two species of squirrel and find some strong overlaps in the uses
of nesting materials in particular. Is
it safe to conclude that these two species are competitors? Why or why not?
yes! competitors try to outdo each by many ways. the squirrels express their dominance within their ecological niche. most of squirrel species feed from the same compounds. the nesting material would be an ideal counter territory tactic to keep off others.
