Introduction
Leaders have a great task in ensuring that they are in a position of leading others by
adopting a qualitative approach when handling matters. They need to show leadership in
everything they advocate for by giving directions on the way forward. They also need to create
an environment whereby the objectives are met with utmost efficiency. They, therefore, have to
be good decision makers and enhance ethical leadership in their capacities. This paper will
reflect on ethical leadership in institutional governance.
Institutional Governance
A variety of entities are required for institutional governance. This would be defined as
tasks and responsibilities that authorities or individual leaders perform to ensure that an
institution runs efficiently. They have to make binding decisions, solve problems, and create
reinforcement and reproductive social norms in the institution (Griffiths, & Zammuto, 2005). An
institution can be formal or informal. It can be an established education institute, government or
public service institutions that relate directly to the needs of the society. Governance in these
institutions requires collaborative efforts from the people in the administration who form
governing boards. They can be selected by the people who get their services, current board
members or by the governors. Their mandate is usually to enhance coherence, clarity, and
appropriate behavior in the institution. They also come up with governing policies, structures,
practices and principles that relate with the institution (Griffiths, & Zammuto, 2005). The
