I am extremely confused about The Pythagorean Theorem! I understand the basic a squared plus b squared equals c squared, but how do you find out what a or b equals, when it does not give the value?

a^2+b^2=c^2

b^2=c^2-a^2

b=sqrt c^2-a^2

a^2=sqrtc^2-b^2
