Consider how society was changed by the Industrial Revolution. Before it, most people lived and worked on farms, but with the advent of so many new machines, how people did work changed. The opening of factories offered new kinds of jobs. The steam engine and the railroad impacted how goods were sold and shipped-- no longer did you have to rely solely on horses for transportation. And, people now moved into cities which afforded more employment and cultural and social opportunities. https://sites.google.com/site/5effectsofindustrialization/effects-in-the-1800s-1900s
