Social Order: The case of Vedic India and Ancient China
In the community context, various forces tend to hit hard on the structure of the
community negatively and positively. The society has a great need to have a stand to prevent
being swayed back and forth by every theory. The element that binds the society together to keep
moving forward and prevent its fall is the social order. The aspect of social order depends on the
method of the social contract to maintain the enjoyed peace within the society due to common
norms, rules, laws, and taboos. The famous English philosopher Thomas Hobbes who developed
the concept of sociology better explains this philosophy. The binding factor of the social contract
is that without any uniting factor, the society ceases to exist and chaos and violence emerge. This
paper will attempt to analyze how social order prevailed in the Vedic India and the ancient
China.
