For robins small worms contain 25 calories of
energy, cost 10 calories and take 2 minutes to harvest. For the same birds medium worms contain 50
calories and cost 15 calories and take 3 minutes to harvest. Large worms contain 75 calories, cost 30
calories and take 5 minutes to harvest.
Based on optimal foraging theory, what sized worms should robins
favor? Explain your logic!

The Robins should favor the medium sized worms. Over all, the small worms would give the robins 450 calories per hour, the large would take in 540 calories per hour and the medium would give the Robins 700 calories per hour. I just took each amount of calories for each worm and then subtracted how many calories burned. I then calculated how many worms they could harvest in an hour. Then I multiplied that number by the amount of calories each worm would give the Robin. The medium worms are the best.
