Describe the social determinants of health approach to explaining why certain groups are at a greater risk than others for contracting STIs.

The social determinants of health are basically described as the conditions in which people are born, live, work, and age. Therefore, all these circumstances are shaped by the distributions of power, money, resources at global, local and national levels. The main reason why some people are at great risk that others for contracting STIs is because of the distribution of power, money and other resources. For example, weak people in the society are easily affected by STIs because they are not able to meet the payments for treating the diseases. Therefore, certain groups are at a greater risk than others for contracting STIs because of the money and power required to cater the needs of STIs.
