a) Because RI || AN , angle R and angle TAN are congruent corresponding angles.

Also because both triangles contain angle S, the triangles are similar by AA (angle-angle).

So triangle TAN ~ triangle TRI

b) to find NI, we will use Side-Splitting Theorem

x/12 = 2/8

x = 12*2 / 8 = 12/4 = 3cm
