A covert investigation method is examining accounting books of a corporation. An overt method would be to meet with employees of an organization to investigate reported embezzlement in a company.
As an example consider, you are chief financial officer of a private corporation. A rumor persists that an employees of this company has embezzled a large sum of money. Your task is to determine if any employee is guilty of this allegation. So you call each employee of that department into your office and ask probing questions to find out where and how the embezzlement occurred. Before doing this, you should go through the accounting books for that department and see if you find any anomaly in accounting or can establish how and how much the money was embezzled. This way you can interrogate each employee effectively and find the culprit who did it and how he/she did it and take appropriate actions.
Note: I cannot compare and contrast these methods with those of other students as I do not know other students and their chosen methods.
