I have no idea how to begin this problem:

Simplify 5m with an exponent of -1 over (3m) with an exponent of 2 n with an exponent of -2. Can someone please show me hoe to begin?

5m^-1/(3m)^2n^-2

First let's try to get rid of negative exponents:

numerator:

5*m^-1 = 5/m^1

denominator:

1 / 3m^2n^-2 = 1 / 3 *(1/ m^2n^2 ) = m^2n^2 /3

So we will have:

5/3 * m^2n^2 /m

This should get you started..................

Also I have a question about the denominator : is it ((3m)^2n)^-2 or is it 3m raise to an exponent 2n, which is raised to a -2 exponent in it's turn? The solution will be different in both cases.
