Introduction

Wind turbines generate electrical energy by transforming the kinetic energy from the
wind. The two types of wind turbines include horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) and
vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT). “The HAWT rotate about a horizontal axis while the
VAWT rotate about a vertical axis” (Tong, 2010, p. 3). This is the significant difference
between the two since the working principle is the same. In this paper, HAWT will be
discussed.
