Question description

Marc A. Thiessen, a Washington Post journalist, compared and contrasted Presidents Bush and Obama’s military doctrines in an editorial, titled, The Obama-Bush Doctrine. The article can be found, here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-obama-bush-doctrine/2012/05/31/gJQAGZmM4U_story.html

Both Bush and Obama’s foreign policy doctrines spell out the rules of U.S. military engagement in today’s post-Cold War era.

How has the use of both the Bush and Obama’s military doctrines affected the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? How has the use of these military doctrines altered America’s reputation with the countries of the Middle East, Iran, China, and Europe?

Hello’ Prof and Classmates

The Bush doctrine was justified because shortly after he took office as commander and chief our country was brutally attacked by terrorist from the Middle East in countries like Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan but even after the 9/11 attack on America the Bush doctrine only allowed for wiretaps and the bring in of known terrorist to be questioned about their groups activities.  President George W Bush got ridiculed for tactics that were being used at Guantanamo bay for making the terrorist let us know what attacks they had in play against our national security but those tactics helped us locate the source in order to take action. The Obama doctrine is not constitutional with the force of drone attacks…not only civilians in the Middle East but also an America citizen that was over there visiting. We won’t ever have a strong relationship or be able to come to terms with countries like Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan because they are not our friends and they have made that more than clear but they don’t only dislike us…they also hate our ally Israel and that’s the reason we have these doctrines put in place against them. It’s because of their own actions and not ours.

Hello Professor and class,

The bush Doctrine is justified because he was under heavy attack by terrorist former President Bush took pride in his military and his country he was sure to put his military and his country first and by all means within his power to find out who was behind these attacks agains us.
then you have Obamas doctrine which I don't feel is justified as force of drone attacks, not caring who is there, foreigners, americans, women, children it doesn't matter, he just wants it done. we have no hope to make ties with these countries he has made them so upset with us and our service members and many others are even upset with hm.
