Learners in their lower levels of education often are categorized to be in the first three
stages of reflective judgement. This is whereby the students’ belief in their personal beliefs of
what they perceive to be true as well as what their models say it is true as well as whether there
is evidence that some assertion is true. With regards to education, a student at this stage will tend
to belief that education does not offer immediate gratification and would want to be provided
with evidence on the value of education without which they may end up giving up since they
might not see the immediate value of education.
At this stage (Pre-Reflective thinking stage) therefore it is advisable for educational
practitioners and professionals to try and educate these students on the importance of education
and to widen the perception of such students not to narrow down to the immediate benefits of
