In the American history, the populist movements have increased in response to the times of economic
hardships. Such groups include the Granger and Greenback of around 1860s and 70s. Later the development
of these populist parties rose to the creation of Share Our wealth programs that took place during the Great
Depression in the 1930s. During the world financial crisis that swept the entire globe by 2008 populist
sentiments became on the rise again with the creation of the Tea Party movement. Therefore, it is essential to
understand the party on when it was created, the position of policy they advocate. It is also vital to determine
whether the Tea Party would be competitive as an independent and if it is necessary to have two political
parties in the United States.

The Tea party is a conservative movement in America which is loosely or slightly allied to
the Republican party. The movement was formed immediately after the first presidential
inauguration of Barack Obama when the government announced bailing out some holders of home
mortgages who were bankrupt homeowners (DiMaggio 111). The policy position of Tea party
movement advocate for entire conservative terms which are now fully upheld with the republicans
party. That is due to their belief in supporting the essential elements of being a social conservative.
