Solve for a:                            2a – 4b = 16

Apr 24th, 2015

 2a – 4b = 16

Move the -4b to the other side of = and change the - to +. It becomes

2a = 16 + 4b

Since you want to solve for a, divide both sides by 2. It now becomes

2a/2 = 16/2 + 4b/2. So the answer becomes.

a = 8 + 2b.
