A gas has a volume of 1 . 82 L at −29C and 181 kPa. At what temperature would the gas occupy 1 . Answer in units of C.

Charles' law applies here. It states that if a given quantity of gas is held at a constant pressure, its volume is directly proportional to the absolute temperature. So.

   1/1.82 x 29 =15.9

   29-15.9 = 13.1

   we substract thisfrom -29 since its below 0C

 New temp = -29 -13.1 = - 42.1 C
