Progressive era was a period between 1890 and 1920 when America was struggling to
make a gradual improvement in its whole economic system and ensure equal distribution of
resources in all states. To achieve this, some reforms needed to be made and make changes in the
way some of the things were being done. A movement know at the progressive movement was
formed to enforce these reforms so as to improve the social and political problems of the states.
The members of this movement believed that the problems of their country at the moment were
caused by abject poverty, violence, greed especially by the political leaders, racism which was
worse in the southern states, rural-urban migration, the rapid growth of industries and corruption
in the government. They knew that these problems could be solved by the provision of good quality
education, safe environment good working conditions and exposing corrupt government officials
so as to do away with them.
