A 26 gram arrow fired from a bow has a speed of 80m.s.  The energy in the arrow came from work done by the bow that acted overa a 1m distance.  What average force acted on the arrow over this distance

mass = 26g = 0.026 kg

Work done by force = Total energy of arrow = (1/2)*mass of arrow*(velocity)*(velocity)

=> F*distance = 0.5*0.026*80*80

=> F = 0.5*0.026*80*80/1 

= 83.2

Hence, Average force acting = 83.2 N
