One liter of water at 35◦C is used to make iced tea. How much ice at 0 ◦C must be added to lower the temperature of the tea to 12 ◦C? The specific heat of water is 1 cal/g · ◦ C and latent heat of ice is 79.7 cal/g. Answer in units of g.

Let "x" be weight of ice added

Heat required to be absorbed for taking temperature of water from 35 to 12 decC = Heat required to take temperature of ice from 0 to 12 degC

1000*1*(35-12) = x*1*12 + x*79.7

Solving for x we get x = 250.82 gms (ANSWER)
