Universal Design Learning is a designed framework that instructors use to reduce barriers in a
classroom to increase access to opportunities for success. Through Universal Design Learning, students
get the chance to express their understanding in the context of the subject and improve their knowledge
of their classroom work in real-life situations. UDL reduces barriers and increases access to students to
their context and real-life situations. A few principles will be more mindful of supporting students with
a universal learning design; engagement, representation, and active expression. These three principles
are beneficial and crucial in helping students with universal learning design (Center for Excellence in
