Research Proposal: Impact of Inflation on College Students
The country is experiencing high inflation levels, the worst in over 40 years. Inflation
refers to the increase in the price of commodities, which leads to lower purchasing power.
Unfortunately, citizens, including students, do not have any control over the inflation rates and
when it begins to rise, they have to adjust their lifestyles or look for alternative survival means so
that they can be able to meet their needs. This has influenced my research topic as I seek to
understand how the inflation affects college students. Also, when researching this topic, I will
learn more about students' coping strategies and any measures, if any, by the education
institutions. Considering that the country is currently experiencing high inflation rates makes, it
good timing to research this topic.
When we talk about the effects of inflation, it is impossible to ignore how much it affects
college students. Notably, some college students depend on their parents for financial
sustenance. Besides, even those who have part-time jobs do not earn a lot of money, meaning
that rising inflation affects their ability to have a sustainable lifestyle. Studies conducted among
college students indicate that they experience difficulties meeting food, fuel, tuition, housing,
utility, and entertainment expenses. As I was looking for articles to use in this research, I realized
