The 2001 terrorist attack had some long term impact in the United States. The most affected was the airline industry which was negatively affected by the immediate reactions to the attack as well as long term repercussions. Some of these long term impacts included reduced passenger demand, bankruptcy and large scale layoffs and indirect effects of new air security procedures.
