Introduction

HR professionals have many responsibilities within an organization. One such responsibility is ensuring safe working practices, which is the focus of this week’s final Discussion. Safety is just the latest in the list of HR functions you have focused on throughout the course. In fact, HR professionals have so many individual functions for which they are responsible that such professionals might be tempted to focus on these individual functions. As a result, they may lose the ability to adopt a holistic view of their organizations and their role within said organizations. By analyzing how each function contributes to their roles as strategic partners, HR professionals can benefit both themselves and their organizations.

This week you evaluate responses to safety problems. You also analyze the role of the HR professional and the impact of knowledge of this role on your own career.

Over the course of this class, my view on the HR profession has become much clearer
and I have gained an in-depth understanding of the critical role of the HR department in any
organization. From the class, it is evident that the HR profession has changed significantly over
the years to encompass greater roles and focus on organizational processes and strategic human
resource management. I have also learned that the HR profession has changed from simply
playing a support function in the organization to administrative tasks including acting as a
strategic partner to help the organization achieve its aims and objectives.
The various functions of HR promote the strategy of the company in various ways.
Firstly, it is every organization`s dream to maintain a competitive advantage in a dynamic
economy, (Noe 2013). As such, strategic human resource management is not just a function of
