Persepolis commences with a brief introduction. It is a short history about Iran as a
county right from the time of the initial profession by the Indo-Europeans nomads to the
establishment and development of the Persian Empire and eventually to the 1979 Islamic
revolution. The author clearly states that the intention of her book is to show to the entire world
that Iran is not a country of terrorists and fundamentalists, and that the west have wrongly and
inaccurately characterized the country.
At the age of ten, the author is compelled to wear a veil on her way to school by the
group that advocated for Cultural Revolution in Iran. At the time there are numerous arguments
for and against the Cultural Revolution. The author’s French non-religious school is banned and
girls and boys are detached for education. The authors mother complaints about the changes an

mother becomes so afraid. The author has a belief that one day she might be the last prophet. She
communicates with God and she believes that a day will come when the country and the world as

despite that she still believes that a day will come when she will be the symbol for love, justice
