Description

The last two functions of management are leading and controlling. These functions are important because leading is where you set goals, initiate action, communicate and motivate employees to a higher level of productivity, and controlling is where you evaluate the results, check for errors, and/or make corrective actions.

Continue adding to your previous parts of the project per your template and write an essay of at least 300 words. In your essay, include two (2) new scholarly resources not previously used and address the following:

1 Starbucks Organizing and Staffing Isis Brown Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University MGMT 201: Principles of Management Dr. Daneene Barton 9 October 2022I 2 Organizational chart Starbucks' organizational chart comprises a combination of horizontal and vertical structures, as shown in the following figure (Drouin et al., 2018). Departments/groups The running and management of Starbucks are in charge of the company's board of directors. The board operates in the firm's headquarters in Seattle. From the directors' level, Starbucks splits into various regional jurisdictions. District managers are the persons who run the regional jurisdictions by taking charge of groups of stores. The company also has store managers below the district managers. The store managers run specific stores with the support of a shift supervisor. The shift supervisor is the one who oversees a particular group of staff. The new idea is mainly concerned with the last three levels of leadership in the organizational structure – district managers, store managers, and shift supervisors. These departments will help the company implement the new idea in the most appropriate areas and cooperate with the company's workers. 3 Resource availability Starbucks has sufficient resources to introduce 24-hour stores and confidential waiting areas. Starbucks is not open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company can afford to build the necessary infrastructure, recruit more employees, and increase workers’ compensation to support the idea. This milestone is achievable because the company engages in profitable business activities. Resources and approximate costs The resources that will help the company implement this idea include land, furniture, and human resources. It will use the land to provide more space and extend its facilities. This space is essential for the construction of confidential waiting areas. Secondly, furniture will be necessary because the new confidential waiting areas will require chairs, tables, and other essential items to make them suitable for serving the idea. Finally, human resources will be the fundamental force behind the operationalization of the confidential waiting areas and the implementation of 24-hour stores. The following list outlines the approximate costs associated with the above discussion. 1. Workers compensation (first 3 months) - $3 billion 2. New employee recruitment - $2 million 3. Furniture - $4 million 4. Land - $1.5 billion The above expenses will significantly impact revenues in the short term because 2021's financials indicate that Starbucks' revenue was $28.52B (Liu, 2022). However, the long-term effects will be increased revenues and higher profits. 4 References Drouin, N., Müller, R., Sankaran, S., & Vaagaasar, A. L. (2018). Controlling and Leading
Autocratic leadership is the leadership style that will be most reliable in launching a new
idea. Autocratic leadership refers to a style where the leader has significant control over all the
decisions relating to a particular project. Such leaders dictate procedures and policies, set goals,
and allow low participation levels from the project members. The autocratic leadership will suit
this idea because the project's head will have reliable information about the prevailing market
conditions. Consequently, there will be minimal need for guidance from junior project members
(Almheiri et al., 2022). This leadership style will also enhance communication between the
leaders and the juniors through vertical communications for sending instructions and receiving
feedback.
The company will use the voice of the customer (VoC) technology to guide its processes
and activities on service evaluation, feedback management, and quality control. This argument
applies in this case because modern technological advancements help businesses evaluate the
market trends and reliability of their services by looking at such factors as customer satisfaction,
advocacy, a...
