For the reaction, calculate how many grams of the product form when 2.4g of Mg completely reacts.

2Mg(s) + O2(g) = 2MgO(s)

Moles of Mg reacting = 2.4/24.3 = 0.098 mole

Hence product formed = 0.098 mole 

Mass of product formed 

= number of mole*molecular mass of MgO

= 0.098*40.30

=3.9494 g ~ 3.95 g

Hence mass of product formed is 3.95 g
