Richmond vs. Kent
Thesis: The British Columbia is Canada's westernmost region. The region is defined by
its placatory coastline with a number of mountain ranges. British Columbia nature regions such
as the National Park of Glacier provide both biking and hiking trails and its campgrounds as
well. Additionally, British Columbia has a number of regions and each region has several
municipalities. Therefore, this paper will entail a description of various elements that support the
most excellent living conditions of an individual in the municipality of Richmond located at
Metro Vancouver region. The paper will compare it with living conditions of an individual in the
municipality of Kent at the Fraser Valley region in the next 10 years. Finally, the essay will
conclude by starting the best place to be in next 10 years.
I.

Physical geography
The municipality of Richmond is a coastal Metro Vancouver’s regional city situated in

the British Columbia at Canadian province. Richmond has a population of about 219,306 people
as per 2016 census. It has the population of immigrant estimated at 60%, making it the highest
population of immigrant in Canada.
Climate
Richmond city takes pleasure of a temperate climate. But since the city is not close to mountains,
it receives about 35% less rainfall than its neighboring Vancouver. The city is known to rarely
snow during summer and the winter temperatures are meek to warm. In addition, Richmond is as
well very prone to mist during cooler periods (Maguire, 2016).
Demographics
As per the 2016 population census, Richmond's population stood at 219,306 making the city the
fourth biggest municipality in British Columbia. The city has population immigrant estimated at

60%, making it the highest in Canada. However, over 55% of its residents identified as Chinese
and Asian descent. Richmond is as well known as a home for two biggest Buddhist temples in
the north, the Mountain Temple of Ling Yen and the Buddhist International Temple.

Economy

Richmond is a city that accommodates people of average earning since its detached home costs
an average price of $1,414,500. This is an ideal economy that can sustain a family for the next
ten years.
III.

Agriculture

The city is known for sufficient food production, and the dominant crops grown are blueberries
and Cranberries. In addition, other crops grown here include corn, potatoes, and strawberries.
Therefore, due to sufficient food production, one can comfortably settle in unoccupied land in
the far eastern region with a lot of pleasure and comfort.
IV.

Shopping malls

Richmond is well known as a home to a number of Chinese-based oriented shopping malls. Most
of them are aligned along Road No. 3 from Way Alderbridge to the Way of Capstan.

While Kent is a municipal district located at the east of Vancouver and it is part of
Fraser Valley Region. Kent comprises of a number of communities, the biggest as
well as most well-known is Agassiz as the only town in entire municipality.
