Description
Each student will be required to write a theoretical counseling orientation paper. This will included four parts: personal reaction, worldview, theoretical orientation, and apply the theory to Stan and Ruth. A review of literature (within six years) should support the information used. You must include a reference least five peer-reviewed articles and the textbook The paper should be double be doubled-spaced, and a minimum of three pages and a max of five pages in length, however, if you extend five pages you will not be penalized. It must be in APA format. This will be submitted through the Dropbox, Theoretical Orientation. The book used for this course is Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy Tenth Edition by Gerald Corey. Attached is the layout of the paper.

Personal Reaction
Counseling is a significant aspect of internal conflict resolution. There are different
approaches to counseling used in different situations by different types of psychotherapists. A
counselor determines the relevant approach to counseling depending on the situation and the
problem facing the client.
Humanistic approach
In a humanistic approach, the therapists are more concerned about how the clients can
achieve their highest potential now. According to Corey (2015), therapists using this approach
have the belief that every person is good and can grow individually. Therefore, they do not focus
on the past life of their clients as a way of judging their future. Consequently, this approach takes
into consideration the assumption that clients take charge of their destinies. Unlike the other
approaches, the humanistic approach is more client-centered and only allows the therapists to
guide the clients on what they want to achieve.
