Introduction
Breast cancer is cancer that affects breast tissue and it is more common in women
though there are cases of men who have been affected by cancer. It is not clear what causes
breast cancer but doctors believe that cells that grow abnormally and multiply and
accumulate leading to lumps forming in the breast (Oeffinger et al., 2015). It is also possible
that the cells that have grown abnormally can spread throughout the body. The cells mostly
begin in the milk-producing ducts although they can begin in any other cells within the
breast. According to research, there are several factors that can increase the risk of breast
cancer in an individual such as hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors. It is also not
clear why some people are at high risk while others have zero risks.
Screening purpose
Breast cancer screening is the process of checking a woman’s breasts for any signs
and symptoms of breast cancer. The process is mostly done by a trained healthcare giver.
Breast cancer screening is very useful in detecting the disease at an early stage when it can be
treated easily as opposed to later on when the disease could have spread. A screening test
does not necessarily mean that one has the disease; it’s the results that...
