I  need help with his x2+y2+18x+4y+85=36

We first separate the x terms and the y terms, then combine them into binomial form remembering to add the new constants they create.

(x+9)^2 + (y +2)^2  = 36 - 85 + 81 + 4

(x+9)^2 + (y+2)^2 = 36

Therefore, the center is (-9, -2)

The radius is sqrt(36) = 6

I have one more problem, I need help with x^2+y^2+18x+2y=-46

Apr 28th, 2015

(x - 8)^2 + (y+9)^2 = -141 + 64 + 81 = 4

center is (8, - 9)

radius is 2
