A woman made a deposit of $291.  If her deposit consisted of 83 bills, some of them one-dollar bills and the rest being five-dollar bills, how many one-dollar bills did she deposit?

Let no: of one-dollar bills be 'x' and no: of five-dollar bills be 'y'

so total money  = 291  = 1*x+5 *y  = x + 5y

x + 5y =291

x+y =83

Subtract equation 2 from 1,

4y = 291-83 =208

so y = 208/4 =52

So Substituting 'y' in eq.2 we get,

x+52 =83

x = 31

So no: of one-dollar bills is 31 and no: of five-dollar bills be 52

Please let me know if you have any other questions and best me if you are satisfactory.
