find the volume of a sphere with a diameter of 3 feet in terms of pi

Apr 28th, 2015

The equation for Volume of a sphere:

V = 4/3 (pi) r^3

Diameter is 3 feet, however we want radius (which is 1/2 the diameter), so 1.5 feet is the radius

v = 4/3 (pi) (1.5)^3

V = 3.375 * 4/3 * PI ft^3

V = 3.375 * 1.3333 * PI ft^3

V = 4.5 PI ft ^3

FINAL:  4.5 PI ft^3
