I have to write a poem for my speech class to memorize and recite. However, I am stuck and can not think of what to write or how to even get started. Does it matter if it rhymes?

For you writers out there, how do you usually start writing a poem?

Can anyone give me ideas on how to structure it?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

To write a poem it would be important to decide on the topic you want to speak about.

Once you get the topic or subject e.g your mum jot down a few things about the topic/her

There are different ways of writing poems. They dont have to rhyme, but it makes it easier to memorise if it rhymes.

The basic rules to follow is that it has to have stanzas(paragraphs) at least two to three with lines.

Write your poem following your topic.

After you write the poem u can recite to a friend or parent several times to memorize it.
