Share Your Action Research Study
Share Your Action Research Study
Action research is a form of inquiry in which a problem
is identified and a series of actions are planned as a way of gaining
deeper understanding of the range of possible solutions. The purpose of
this discussion is to promote reciprocal sharing of your final action
research report with others in your community of practice (your peers in
this course) who would value the knowledge you have gained through the
action research process. In this discussion, you will create a
presentation using the software of your choice (e.g., PowerPoint, Google
Docs, Present.me, YouTube, Prezi, Jing, SlideRocket, or another
program) to present your findings to your school at an after school
staff meeting. Include speaker notes if using PowerPoint. If using a
program other than PowerPoint, submit a document with speaker notes
included for each slide.
There are two parts to this discussion.
Part 1: Share the process and results of the action research planned in EDU671 and conducted in EDU675. At a minimum:
Describe the purpose of your study by writing a
statement that completes the following sentence, “The purpose of this
study is to…” (two to three sentences). Post your research question(s) - Include definitions of key technical terms, if necessary. (one to three sentences)Outcomes/Results The “so what?” of your study—Answers to your research questions. (three to four sentences)Assuming you would conduct another cycle of this
study, what specific modifications or adjustments would you make, and
why? (three to four sentences)Explain why this study is important to the school and the students. ( two to three sentences)Explain why this study is important it is
important for teachers and other educational practitioners to become
researchers of their own practice. (two to three sentences)
Part 2:
Attach a link to your ePortfolio (Pathbrite). In one paragraph, reflect on your experience with
the redesign of the Week Three Assignment in terms of challenges you
encountered and how you overcame those challenges. Also include how your
assessment promotes learning and innovation skills and how it could be
used as a tool for ongoing evaluation of student progress.
Use the PowerPoint Template as a guide to help create a high quality presentation.
Alternate: If you do not have your own completed action
research to utilize, you will take a slightly different approach to
complete this discussion: Using the Ashford University Library, locate
and analyze a peer-reviewed educational action research study. You will
follow the same guidelines in Part 1 of the discussion to create a
presentation to share in the discussion forum. An added part to your
presentation is reference to the article.

Ann was resting quietly as the increased dosage of IV pain medication gradually reached its therapeutic level. Ben turned his head and slowly turned, looking out the room's only window. As he glanced up, a small flicker of light caught his breath. It was a shooting star. A tear fell from the corner of his eye and he turned to Ann. The nurse sensed that something significant to Ann and Ben was unfolding. Shuffling to Ann's bedside, he took her small fragile hand in his. These hands had rocked cradles, burped babies, and groomed the horses she loved to ride. Gently holding her hand, he turned to the nurse. "She would ride like the wind was chasing her." Looking back to Ann his voice broke; choking back tears "Ann, Ann I saw Jessie…Jessie is calling." Ben turned "Jessie was our daughter. She died having a baby that was too big. When she died it was a pitch-black night. Cold, so cold, the baby died too, a little boy, named him Abe, Jr. after Jessie's husband. I took Ann outside so she could cry to God above and there in this dark sky we saw two falling stars…together…just falling. We knew it had to be Jessie and Abe…two angels to light up the night." Ben turned back as a deep sigh escaped from Ann's lips. A soft smile remained as she joined Jessie and Abe.Based on this case study how would the nurse actualize Parse's theory of Human Becoming? What are characteristics of a human becoming nurse? What are strengths and weaknesses to this theory of nursing? What challenges exist for healthcare institutions to switch to this nursing approach? How might Parse's understanding of transcendence guide the nurse, as Ann's death became a reality to Ben?From the nursing theories we have discussed, what additional theory would you apply to this case study? Develop a plan of care to include both nursing theories (be specific and provide reasons)The APA formatted paper should include 2 outside references and your book. The essay should be between 1250 and 1500 words in length.

Can you please respond to John for me?
Conducting graduate research is much different because the work is expected to and needs to be done at a higher level. What I mean by that, is that the work needs to have a higher understanding by the writer of what they are researching. I believe a paper is only as strong as the research or the approach the writer takes. Graham Pyke writes that he uses these three tips for writing, "an approach...tools to make it work, and feedback." (Pyke, 2014, p.90) Continuing with that idea the approach and how a student decides to take it will have a huge impact on the paper development. What research are you looking at? How much research has been done before, that type of thing. Tools refer to the databases or even writing workshops and how a writer can use those to their advantage. Also being able to accept feedback and not take it personally. I think the big difference is knowing I wont be able to write a graduate paper in 25 minutes and get a good grade like I did often in an undergraduate course.
