Introduction
Culture is a set of practices, principles, art, music, morals, as well as values that are
shared by a certain group. Although we all experience death, we do not all think about or
respond to death in the same way. This research begins to investigate how cultural traditions
relate to death, dying, and aging particularly among the Hispanic people. Hispanic was originally
used to indicate a connection to antique Hispania. In the USA, the term refers to a culture and
people from Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America. The paper will critically examine the
aspects of Hispanic practices and cultures in regards to aging and dying, and compare these
beliefs with those of other cultures.
Despite death being universal, the practices and behaviors that are associated with how
different people express their grief are highly culturally bound. Various cultures have come up
with ways to cope with death, dying, and aging in a respectful manner, despite grief and death
being normal life events. As such, interfering with any of these practices disrupts people ability
to cope with death and the grieving process. It is obvious that health care providers may not
know the traditions and beliefs of each family’s culture. However, having some basic
understanding of how various cultures respond to and prepare for death is critical. Although it
may be difficult to ask, there are some critical questions that must be addressed during
conversations between families, nurses, and doctors.
Cultural variabilities in relation to death, dying, and aging
There are several variables that differ with each family as well as different trends that
may give the heath care provider a better understanding of how a particular society groups
responds to or relates to death, dying, and aging. Usually, aging is associated with dying since it
