CHRONIC DISEASE IN THE OLD PEOPLE
Introduction
Community-based health programs are meant to offer assistance to the entire community
to ensure that everyone lives healthy and safe from various diseases. Older adults mostly suffer
from Chronic Diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus, Stroke, Heart Disease and cancer among
others Cancer (Tymchuk, A. J., 2016). The quality of life of older youths when affected by
chronic diseases is lowered and eventually leads to the death of many of them. It’s vital that
people can understand that the Patient Protection and Affordable Act of the year 2010 offer
provisions for preventive services such as Cancer Screening and Immunization. Through the
utilization of these services, it's possible to help in the detection and prevention of diseases at an
early stage when treatment can be useful (Tymchuk, 2016). Despite the fact that early diagnosis
is helpful, older adults do not benefit from the provisions because they rarely go for screening
services.
