I need help understanding algebra

a^2 -b^2 = (a+b) (a-b)

So the equation x^4 -16 can be written as (x^2+4) (x^2-4)

Again (x^2-4) can be written as (x+2) (x-2)

so x^4 -16 = (x^2+4) (x+2) (x-2)
