2x-6y=8

3x+9y=12

Apr 29th, 2015

-3/2(2x - 6y) = -12

-3x + 9y = -12

3x + 9y = 12

18y = 0

y = 0

2x - 6(0) = 8

2x = 8

x =4

Where did you get the -3/2 from?

I was thinking what number would you have to multiply both sides of the top equation by in order to get -3x so that the x's cancel out and you are left with just y in the equation.
