Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As) are very efficient in ensuring the entry of companies
into other markets if done well. M&As are therefore used by big companies to ensure that
competition is reduced and that they get the experience from the target companies (Bena & Li,
2014). Carlsberg S/A is an example of companies that have benefited from the strategy. The use
of mergers and acquisitions allowed Carlsberg S/A not only to penetrate Russia but also take the
