How do you solve an equation of 1200 mg for the adult and 300 mg for a child

I have to assume they want the age of the child and this is an application of cowlings rule.

So cowlings rule is d=D(a+1)/24

d=dose for kid

D=adult dose

a=age of kid

so let's plug in our values and solve for a.

300=1200(a+1)/24

7200=1200(a+1)

6=a+1

a=5

So the kid is 5 years old.  Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!
