Comparative Analysis of Stratification Systems
The different characteristics of a stratified social system define the manner in which other
members of the society view a person. The stratification can either be classified as open or
closed depending on the available opportunities for change from the class that defines a person
from the day he or she was born. Despite the differences, both systems have the differentiation
between the proletariat and bourgeoisie classes. The study will, therefore, discuss the estates,
caste, and class systems. The networks have variations in the vertical mobility that provide the
differences among the systems.
The estate system has its roots in feudal societies early in the Middle Ages. In the
feudalism system, people had to work on the firms rented from the nobles for the provision of
military protection and other services. The nobles gained there superiority and status from the
ownership of land. The grouping of the society was based on the situations like nobility and
lordship, serfs, and clergy among others. Due to the creation of differentiation between the serfs
and nobles, it was challenging to move from this system or estate hence difficulty in the social
