Minimum-wage increase, economics homework help
Please respond to the answer by giving some feedback and analysis in 1.5 to 2 paragraphs.Go to the internet and find a news article that discusses the effects of a minimum-wage increase on the U.S. economy, summarize key points.Minimum-wage increase: Currently the national Minimum wage is $7.25 an hr. Lately there has been a big push for the minimum wage to be increased to a “livable Wage” to $15.00 an hr. Now individual states have different wage requirements but they are all equal to or higher than the federal level. The argument is currently that you cannot live on a minimum wage. This is a correct statement, according to the livingwag.mit.edu calculator, the current livable wage is around $12.00 an hr. However According to Tim Warstall $4.20 is the living wage, this is based on the global income where 82.5% earn less than the median income in the United States. So I would like to think that I am a realest and looking at the minimum as just that minimum salary for minimum skilled, minimum labor, and minimum needs. In today’s world there is plenty of work for anyone that is looking. However a job that is designed to pay Minimum wage should, in my opinion, be for the young single high school aged person. Something to get extra cash and start to learn how to save and use money. Before I joint the military I applied myself in high school to learn a trade as a mechanic. As a skilled Mechanic (no collage degree) I have been personal paid over $60,000.00 for may work. That is far better than the minimum wage even today. I do not believe that there is a need for an increases in the minimum wage. I believe that there I a need to change the education system to teach basic budgeting as well as get back to teaching a skilled trade. I personally believe that if we can do that, the need to increases the wage go away. Skilled labor will always be an in demand workforce.ReferencesJones, M. A. Rasmussen College Organization Financial Statement Analysis
BackgroundAn organization cannot effectively design or implement strategic initiatives without an excellent understanding of its financial health. This understanding can only be determined by properly analyzing financial statements. In this assignment, you will evaluate the financial health of three organizations by examining the organizations' financial statements which document their assets, liabilities, equity, revenues, and expenses.A company's financial performance is broken down into four main performance categories: profitability, liquidity, asset utilization, and debt/leverage. The most effective way to analyze financial statements and measure performance in these critical areas is to compute and interpret financial ratios.InstructionsYou are a senior financial analyst for Capital Financial, a fictitious investment firm based in Dallas, TX. Capital Financial would like to allocate at least $500,000 of their capital to purchase shares in a firm in the software section within the technology sector. As the analyst, you must make an informed recommendation to the senior leadership team in a report that addresses the following:Identify three similarly sized firms (small to mid-cap) in the software section of the technology sector. For each of the three firms, calculate three ratios from each of the four performance categories (12 ratios for each company) and incorporate them into the body of your report.Select the ratio from each performance category that you feel is essential to use when comparing the firms. Use the ratio selected from each category to create a bar chart that illustrates the firms' performance relative to one another.Explain why the ratios you selected are the best for determining the strength of the three firms.Use your ratio computations to describe each firm's level of strength in each performance category.Provide a final recommendation indicating which of the three firms Capital Financial should purchase shares in.

University of Phoenix Finance for Business Fundamentals of Investing Q&As
In this discussion, you will have an opportunity to make connections between your prior knowledge and the new content you are learning this week. Use your results from this week’s Build Your Proficiency Diagnostic to provide context for your prior knowledge and consider the new content about stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other investment types as you respond to this discussion prompt.Last week, you considered how much money you might need in retirement. This week, you will learn about investment options to help you save for the future. Consider the investment options discussed this week (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate). How would you choose to invest your retirement savings (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, other)? Why did you choose that option(s)?What are the advantages of investing in mutual funds?Section 13.1 of Personal Finance lists types of investment companies that offer mutual funds. Which of these would be of most interest to you? Why? The answer to this is A real estate investment trust and I would attach a short summary of this and you can answer this question based on that.Real Estate Investment TrustsA real estate investment trust (REIT) is a special type of closed-end fund that invests in real estate and mortgages. By law, a REIT must have a buy-and-hold investment strategy, a professional manager (the trustee), and at least 100 shareholders. The trustee initially issues shares and then uses the investors’ money to buy real estate assets according to the terms of the trust, much like a unit investment trust. The difference is that the REIT doesn’t have a limited life span, because most real estate investments don’t have fixed maturities. An important factor for individual investors is that REITs must distribute 90 percent of their profits to shareholders each year, and this income will be taxable as ordinary income unless the shares are held in a tax-deferred account.REITs offer individual investors the opportunity to diversify their investment portfolios into real estate. Many investors wouldn’t otherwise have access to this investment class because of the high initial investment required and the liquidity risk involved. In many respects, REITs are similar to stock investments and closed-end mutual funds, trading on national exchanges and distributing profits to the investors through dividends. REITs often specialize in particular types of real estate investments. Equity REITs, which make up a large share of the market, specialize in making direct investments in income-producing real estate, such as office buildings and shopping centers. Mortgage REITs focus on mortgage investments, such as residential and construction loans.REITs can provide diversification for your portfolio because their prices do not tend to go up and down at the same time as stock and bond prices. However, they aren’t as liquid as stocks and are highly sensitive to the real estate market environment. In the early 2000s, REIT investors benefited from the real estate bubble, earning higher returns than investors in most other asset classes. But when real estate prices plummeted later in the decade, contributing to the 2008 financial crisis, REIT investors were badly affected. As shown in Figure 13.1, the average equity REIT lost about two-thirds of its value between April 2007 and February 2009, much more than the decline in the stock market over that period. Fortunately for investors, as the economy recovered and real estate prices stabilized, REIT shares returned to their pre-2008 values.
