There are several art movements which occurred in the history of the world. These art
movements are associated with different artists who did great works in the field of art. This
paper, therefore, seeks to explore the art movements which include renaissance, baroque,
romanticism, impressionism and modernism.
Renaissance Movement
The renaissance movement was a historical in European history which occurred from the
14th to 17th century. In approximately, the movement began in 1300 and ran up to 1700. The
term renaissance was derived from a French word which in actuality means rebirth. The term
was used to describe this period because there were many changes which happened between the
14th and 17th century which were all catalyzed by the rekindling of the classical art and ancient
Greek and Rome intellect. During this period, the two main themes of the art became an
individual expression and worldly experience (Gooding, 2001). This movement led to the
