I apologise it seems my equation did not come out right. The actual two equations are

 x + y = 5 and  

y = 1/2x + 2

not 

x + y = 5
y = x + 2

Y=1/2 X+2

5-X=1/2X+2

3.5X=3

X=3/3.5

Y=5-0.8571

Y=4.1429

(3/3.5,4.1429)  There is still a problem with the question......please check
