Bacteria X has a growth rate of 170 % per hour. Some amount of bacteria X are accidentally introduced into some potato salad. Two hours after contamination, there were 50,000 bacteria X in the potato salad. Find the initial number of bacteria X introduced into the potato salad: bacteria Estimate the number of bacteria in the food 3 hours after contamination. bacteria

Nx=number of bacteria x

Nx(t) =Nx(0)*(1+gr)^t where Nx(0) = number at time 0,  gr = growth rate /hr. = 170%=1.7, t= time in hours

we have

1+gr=2.7

Nx(2) = Nx(0)* 2.7^2.  =Nx(0)*7.29 => Nx(0)=Nx(2)/7.29 = 50000/7.29 = 6859 ~ 6900

Nx(3)=Nx(2)^2.7=50000*2.7=135000
